My number one tip for visiting Disneyland is to stay at a hotel within walking distance of the Disneyland Parks! This saves so much time in the morning as it avoids the hassle of parking and taking the tram!

In my earlier trips to Disneyland, we used to stay further away and then had to drive to the Mickey and Friends parking structure and then take the tram to the park. This would take at least an hour as there were lines everywhere, for parking and for the tram!

In my recent trips, we have been experimenting with staying at hotels near Disneyland and walking to the theme parks, and it has been the best experience!

We reach the Disneyland Esplanade, the area between the entrances of Disneyland and California Adventure, with a 5 to 10-minute walk and are able to save a lot of time in the morning.

Below are the best hotels that are truly within walking distance of California Adventure and Disneyland. I have stayed in several of these with my family, as every year when we visit Disneyland, we try a new hotel!

Of course, the best way to experience Disneyland is to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels – Disney Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, and Pixar Place Hotel.

Staying at the Disneyland Resort hotels is a bit pricey, but they provide the best Disneyland experience. It’s as if you never left the theme park!

But if you are looking for more budget-friendly accommodation (I get it, Disneyland is expensive!), several hotels in this list are more affordable but still quite close to the park entrance and an easy walk. Disney recognizes them as Disney Good Neighbor Hotels.

1. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa

Distance to park entrance – No walk, inside California Adventure Park

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel is the closest hotel to the theme parks and part of 3 on-property Disneyland Resort hotels. This is the best luxury resort for an epic Disney vacation, right along with Disneyland Hotel.

It is inside California Adventure Park, so if you stay here, you can walk into California Adventure from their private access. Of course, you will still need a ticket and theme park reservation to enter.

To access Disneyland Park from here, you walk over to the Disneyland theme park entrance right across the street.

Disney Grand Californian Hotel has a great spa where you can rejuvenate after a day at the theme park. There are also several outdoor pool areas where you can lounge or splash in the afternoons.

There are several restaurants on the property – Storyteller’s Cafe is a buffet-style restaurant that has character experiences during breakfast and brunch. Napa Rose is an upscale fine dining table-service restaurant.

2. Disneyland Hotel

Distance to park entrance – 0.5 mile / 10-minute walk

Disneyland Hotel is part of the three on-property Disney hotels and is a luxury hotel providing an excellent Disney vacation experience. This hotel is on the other end of Downtown Disney. From here, the walk to the park entrance is around 10 minutes.

If going to Disneyland Park, you can also take the Disney Monorail, which will drop you inside the park at Tomorrowland. You will need a valid ticket and a theme park reservation to take the monorail to Disneyland.

The Disneyland Hotel offers an immersive Disney experience, and you will see the Disney magic and touches everywhere with themed rooms, pools, and Disney character appearances.

The hotel has standard rooms and studios with Kitchenettes. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel offers 1, 2, and 3-bedroom villas with full kitchens for larger families.

Disneyland Hotel has several themed pools, monorail waterslides, and a water play area. You can also rent cabanas at the poolside. While there is no actual waterpark at Disneyland theme park, staying at the Disneyland Hotel will fill that void.

There are several restaurants on the property, including Goofy’s Kitchen, a buffet-style restaurant with character appearances, and Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill, a quick-service restaurant.

3. Pixar Place Hotel (formerly Paradise Pier Hotel)

Distance to park entrance – 10-minute walk

The third hotel under the Disney Hotels umbrella is the mid-range Paradise Pier Hotel near Downtown Disney. It is around a 10-minute walk from here to the theme parks, and you can access the parks from the Grand Californian Hotel across the street.

The hotel has undergone a major transformation and rebranded as Pixar Place Hotel with Pixar stories and themes. The brand-new hotel has reimagined colorful guest rooms with a Pixar movie theme and an awesome splash pad and pool area with a Finding Nemo movie theme.

We stayed at Paradise Pier Hotel a couple of years ago and enjoyed the mini waterpark area at the pool and the fireworks viewing from the terrace at night.

The Mickey-shaped waffles from the cafe were amazing. We would walk to Grand Californian across the street and take the private entrance to the parks from there.

They have standard rooms, as well as larger one and two bedroom suites. Many rooms have views of the theme park.

4. Fairfield Inn Marriott Anaheim

Distance to park entrance – 0.5 mile / 10-minute walk

On our most recent Disneyland trip, we stayed at Fairfield Inn Marriott. This quickly became our top choice as one of the best hotels outside the park but within walking distance. We were able to easily reach the park gates with a 10-minute walk.

We loved the comfortable rooms and the little touches like chilled water dispensers in the lobby, which were refreshing when we returned from the park. Our family enjoyed the pool and the hot tub as well.

They have standard rooms and Disney-themed rooms, as well as junior suites. What we loved the most was watching Disneyland fireworks from the hotel corridor on the first night of our arrival! It was an awesome feeling!

The Panera Bread restaurant on the property was great for grabbing breakfast and eating on the way while walking to the park. You can even order Panera delivery to your room, and they accept mobile food orders.

5. Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance

Distance to park entrance – 0.5 mile / 10-minute walk

Right next to Fairfield Inn Marriott is Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim. It’s just a few extra steps to the theme park entrance.

The biggest draw of Courtyard by Marriott is the Surfside Waterpark on the property. The waterpark is awesome and has several water slides, a drench bucket, water fountains, and a children’s pool.

This is a great hotel for families with young kids, as the waterpark will be a great blast for the kids in the hot summer months.

The hotel has standard rooms as well as suites with bunk beds. Some rooms can sleep six guests with two queen beds and a bunk bed, which is perfect for large families.

The hotel has a bistro with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Market Cafe serves grab-and-go snacks and specialty Starbucks beverages.

6. Best Western Plus Park Place Inn

Distance to park entrance – 0.3 mile / 5-minute walk

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn is hands-down the closest hotel to the park entrance, even closer than some of the Disneyland Resort hotels.

It’s literally across the street from the park gates on S Harbor Blvd. You cross the street, and you are there! It cannot get any closer than this!

We stayed here on one of our trips and were blown away by the convenience of being able to reach our room within 5 minutes. We even came back in the afternoon for a nap!

The rooms here are mini-suites with a small living area at the side of the room, a fridge, and a microwave. The rooms are basic, but if your goal is to use the room only for sleeping and be at the theme parks all day, then this is a great choice.

An added benefit is the free hot breakfast included, which is buffet style in the IHOP restaurant next door. We were pleasantly surprised with the buffet variety, which had many hot food items.

The hotel also has a pool and a hot tub, which was an added plus. Overall, this was a great stay, and the location and proximity to Disneyland cannot be beaten.

7. Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim

Distance to park entrance – 0.6 mile / 11-minute walk

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim on S Harbor Blvd is a few steps further away from the park entrance and just north of the Courtyard by Marriott. Still, it is very popular with families because of the waterpark feature at the hotel.

The hotel’s main attraction is the Castaway Cove waterpark, with water slides and water fountains. You can view the theme park from the higher floors and watch the fireworks at night from the hotel.

The hotel has standard rooms, suites, and some rooms with bunk beds, and all rooms have a mini refrigerator and microwave.

There are several restaurants on S Harbor Blvd that are within walking distance of the hotel on the way to the theme park.

8. Camelot Inn and Suites

Distance to park entrance – 0.3 mile / 7-minute walk

Camelot Inn and Suites made this list because of the newly renovated rooms and very close proximity to the park. From the outside, the hotel looks standard, but the rooms have received an uplift making it more comfortable for your stay.

The hotel has standard rooms as well as larger suites for families. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub on the terrace. You can also watch Disneyland fireworks from the hotel corridors on the higher floors.

The hotel does not offer free breakfast, but McDonald’s and Panera Bread are right next door. Also, IHOP and Dennys are close by.

9. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Anaheim

Distance to park entrance – 0.6 mile / 11-minute walk

Holiday Inn Express and Suites Anaheim is a no-frills budget hotel with all the basic amenities you need for a comfortable stay. It’s a bit further from the theme park entrance and around an 11 to 12-minute walk.

The hotel has standard guest rooms and larger suites with kitchenettes for families. The hotel’s biggest plus is the complimentary breakfast buffet with hot food items like cheese omelets and cinnamon rolls!

The hotel has a heated outdoor pool as well for relaxing in the afternoons or evenings after visiting the theme park.

Distance to park entrance – 0.6 mile / 13-minute walk

Hyatt House at Anaheim is near the Anaheim Convention Center and a little more than half a mile away from the park entrance at the intersection of S Harbor Blvd and Katella Ave.

The hotel has modern furnishings and comfortable accommodations with standard rooms and larger family suites with bunk beds. They have an outdoor pool with a spa and a fitness center.

Across the street from Hyatt House is Residence Inn at Anaheim. The walk from here to the park entrance is around 0.6 miles and takes around 13 minutes.

Even though the Westin Anaheim Resort is the furthest hotel on my list from the Disneyland park entrance, I included it because of its popularity as a luxury resort for Disneyland vacation.

The hotel has rooms and suites with views of the park and fireworks. There are one-bedroom suites as well for extra space and comfort.

There are several restaurants on the property offering diverse cuisines like Steakhouse and Mexican, and a rooftop lounge with excellent views of California Adventure Park.
